‘Is Erdogan going to give up his salary increase?’

According to the law proposal to amend the budget law submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with the signature of President Erdogan of AKP, it was envisaged to increase Erdogan’s salary to 141 thousand TL.

Abdulkadir Selvi, writer of Hürriyet newspaper, known for his closeness to the government, “Does the President give up on the salary increase?” in his article entitled “How absurd it seems to discuss the salary of the President and the deputies at a time when our citizens are overwhelmed by the high cost of living and their salaries are falling rapidly due to high inflation.” used the phrases.

On the other hand, Selvi claimed that a perception operation was carried out over the President’s salary and targeted Kılıçdaroğlu:

“Why does Kılıçdaroğlu not object to the 83 percent increase in his own salary and the income of more than 80 thousand liras?”

Selvi wrote that Erdogan, who received a salary of 100 thousand 750 liras, did not want a ‘raise’ in the first 6 months, “If the President says I don’t want an increase in my salary, retired deputies, the families of former presidents and the Speaker of the Parliament will be affected by this. Will President Erdogan give up on this?” she asked.

Selvi continued:

“It is at the discretion of the President. But what happens if our people say they do not want a salary increase when they are in such trouble? As he did at the beginning of 2022.”
