Allegations about Ankara City Hospital moved to the Parliament

CHP Deputy Chairman Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi brought the claim that there was a problem in the treatment of patients in Ankara City Hospital due to the lack of materials on the agenda of the Parliament.

İlgezdi said, “Due to the shortage of materials and the inability to accept emergency cases due to the lack of CCN motor used in brain surgeries, it is claimed that the emergency room specialists of Ankara City Hospital were warned to take the initiative and refer the cases that require urgent craniotomy to other health centers. This is the point where AKP brought the health system. The current government, which says that they are making a revolution in health, is the main actor of the collapse in health.

“THE PATIENT IS EXPERIENCED TO ACCEPT”

İlgezdi said in a statement on the subject today:

“According to the information received, there are 12 CCN motors, which are the medical equipment used to cut the skull in brain surgeries, in Ankara City Hospital, but 10 of them are unusable due to lack of maintenance and sterilization problems. Moreover, these engines were brought from other hospitals in the closed city. Currently only two CCN engines are known to be operational. For this reason, due to the current shortage, patients are not admitted to the polyclinics, and there is a problem in accepting new patients from the emergency service. It is claimed that Ankara City Hospital has almost no materials to be used in emergencies, apart from the classic hand-drill set and gilgi wire. It is claimed that due to the shortage of materials and the inability to accept emergency cases due to lack of CCN motor, the on-duty specialists of the 112 emergency service of Ankara City Hospital were warned to take the initiative and refer the cases that require urgent craniotomy to other health centers.”

Arguing that in a system where city hospitals were closed and citizens were directed to city hospitals, İlgezdi continued his statement as follows:

“PATIENT AND HEALTHCARE WORKERS ARE FACED”

“Didn’t this city build hospitals with big promises? Aside from the fact that they are located in the furthest points of the city, the problem in the appointment system throughout Turkey still continues, and now the citizens are being turned away from the hospital door, where they come to seek healing, due to the lack of medical supplies. Moreover, the emergency department of Ankara City Hospital receives the warning, ‘Send the patient to other hospitals using the initiative’. This is a practice that confronts the patient and the healthcare worker.”

Pointing out that there are shortages of supplies in many city hospitals across Turkey, İlgezdi said, “If we explain with an example what the lack of materials experienced in Ankara City Hospital will lead to; A 16-year-old young man who applied to Erzurum City Hospital had a blockage in the left eye veins, an emergency surgery decision was made, but he was referred to Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine because the necessary medical equipment was not available, and the patient faced visual impairment during this long period of time. Unfortunately, we know that there are many stories in the same vein. We wanted the Parliamentary Research Commission to be established so that the new painful story described above would not be experienced within the Ankara City Hospital, and we asked the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca what we were wondering about the subject.

İlgezdi asked the following questions to Health Minister Koca:

– “Is it true that there are 12 CCN engines in Ankara City Hospital, but only two of them are operational? If not, how many are there? How many are operational?

– Is it true that the 10 CCN engines in Ankara City Hospital cannot be used due to lack of maintenance and sterilization materials?

– How many of the CCN engines in question were brought from other hospitals in the closed city? How many CCN motors has Ankara City Hospital purchased? Why is CCN engine not being purchased at the moment?

– When was the last time the CCN engines in question were renewed? Is there any certainty about whether the working ones will be disabled or not? Is there a spare in the hospital?

– What are the missing medical supplies in the emergency department of Ankara City Hospital?

– Is the information that no cases were accepted to the emergency service of Ankara City Hospital and that the cases were referred to different health centers are correct? If true, why is the case not accepted?

– Which cases are not accepted to the emergency department of Ankara City Hospital?

– Is it possible to perform craniotomy in the emergency department of Ankara City Hospital? If it can’t be done, what is the reason? When was the last time a case requiring craniotomy was looked at?

– How many referrals to other health centers have been made in Ankara City Hospital’s emergency department since May, since they cannot be cared for in the hospital?

– Is it true that there is a shortage of materials in Ankara City Hospital? Does your ministry have such a determination? If yes, have you made any attempt to eliminate the lack of material?

– Why is the lack of material in question not covered from the revolving fund budget?
