PES recognizes this decision as a clear sign that Turkey’s judicial system is using it to take revenge on the opposition. We condemn this action by President Erdogan and his government and are in full solidarity with Mr. Kaftancıoğlu, our associate member party CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and the numerous opposition politicians who have been subjected to threats, pressures and prison sentences in Turkey.
